This story is about some 10 years back. When there were no mobile phones. People still used to communicate through land lines or letters. There were two best friends RAJ and RAHUL. They were complimentary to one another. They never competed with one another in their entire life, Always there to help. There were examples given of their friendship. Personality wise too, they were tall, handsome, decent, interactive and what not! It was difficult to compare who was the best among them. Comparison was not even needed as they were two bodies and one soul.
In the last year of college, a girl took admission in their college. No one had ever seen such a sweet girl. She must be one of the best girls in college. She could be compared with a fairy from the skies. These were old times. It was not easy to approach a girl. You needed time, guts, and courage to talk and express yourself.
It was something in that girl, which attracted both RAJ and RAHUL. Both started liking the girl. As usual their friendship bond saw the love for the girl in the eyes of his friend. Both held back each other. Everyone wanted to give opportunity to his friend first. They would talk and express lots of things about her beauty, her actions, and her activities. She knew that they are showing interest in her but never took it so seriously. The time passed by. Interactions started and she became friend. Now they were not two but three. However, no one noticed that they were no more thinking about each other, but the girl. There mind were now occupied with lots of things to make her happy, take care of her and impress her. Though no one was hindering the path of another but actually they were aiming for one goal.
Those were last days of the college life. In between, Raj had to go to his family marriage for a few days. He bid good bye to Rahul, the Girl and proceeded. As usual the bad times doesn’t indicate before coming, Rahul decided to propose her. The first mistake was he didn’t consult with Raj, his best friend. Second mistake might be he was taking the biggest decision of his life, in the absence of his best friend. It could be seen as back stabbing too. So Rahul proposed and she happily agreed. As filmy as it might get during the absence of few days, Raj also missed the girl a lot and decided to propose her on his return.
On the last day of college it rained a lot. Raj came back from marriage quite late in night so rushed or actually ran with a ring in his hand. At their usual place close to the shed of cycle stand she was standing under the rain holding hand with Rahul. Friendship was gone with the sight. Blood rushed into his eyes and veins.
They fought like mad’s. Thanks to the people who were standing there who saved them from killing each other. She was shocked, as she had not dreamed that this could also happen. She asked only one question to them, what for they were fighting? No one had answer. Soon she saw the ring lying in dust and got to know the reason. The bond of friendship was broken. She immediately decided to leave them both. While leaving, she just move forward and gave a small kiss on the cheek of Rahul, very close to his ear.
Raj while cleaning his forehead drenched with blood, asked Raj, what did she say? Rahul answered; love and friendship cannot survive at the same place. Yes I am the young and proud owner of Bunty tea stall which at least keeps me healthy and fit due to daily ‘beauty’ dose.
