I am a young girl of 17 and my name is Varsha (the rain). People don’t call me varsho with love as Shabnam is called shabbo by her admirers. My dad must have liked the rainy season that’s why I got this name. It is in genes or what; I don’t know! But I do have the same kind of attraction towards rains. Those falling drops from the mysterious sky can make you mad. In a rainy season my best pass time is to go on my roof, spread my arms, raise my head and do circling till my mother calls down or the rain stops. You can imagine it as a form of rain dance too.
Almost a year back these rains use to give me scares. As I stay in so called tier-3 city, coming back from school on cycle, during the rainy season, can easily create havoc in the mind of a young girl. You cannot peddle cycle because of fast wind blowing from opposite direction. The hell lot of men from old to young will just watch you to pierce those clothes and imagine the white skin. However, today I am more than comfortable with things happening around me. My friends say I am in love. I don’t know what, but yes, it’s a different feeling.
The story starts with same kind of rainy day and I was slowly walking along with few of my friends. We collectively decided not to paddle and walk slowly, one hand holding the cycle and other trying to manage hairs and clothes. Suddenly I noticed this guy, who was walking slowly with his bag of books, trying to cover them by his hand. He didn’t seem to be someone like others who would just stare us. He was engrossed to protect his books and was walking slowly along. I thought he must be chasing, us so kept a distance. Till the end of the street from where the turn takes me to my house he was with me. As the girls kept moving to their respective houses, I was left alone with this boy. Now I was a bit terrified. ‘Has he got some other intentions?’ Though, I felt fully protected, being close to my house.
I slowly rushed fast to enter my house. Thrown the cycle near the lawn and moved back to see him but he was not there. ‘How can somebody vanish in a moment?’ As the rain had been throwing fast I just went in and ran towards our roof for my usual circle dance under the rain. Roof of our adjoining house had been closed for years so never felt like anybody could be interfering in my dance in open. I went up and without noticing anything started the circling. It would be almost an hour, rain had slowed down. I was fully drenched, dripping from all parts and opened my eyes to move down.
It was a state of shock for me; on the other side of roof the same guy was doing the circle dance. His eyes closed he was absorbed. I found him very smart indeed. ‘Oh! The new tenants have moved in, I thought.’ The best part in him was he was not imitating me but actually busy in his own world. It was strange too, as for my understanding a girl alone on roof, dancing in wet clothes would be a must watch for all the male species on earth, whereas, this fool was absorbed in his dreams. I felt a sudden attraction and in a moment of madness I jumped that 2 feet wall went closed to him, flaunted a kiss on his cheeks and ran back.
Before he could understand I was back in my stairs and towards my. He must have seen me running but had no clue, what was what! In real terms a boy of my age was molested by me. Well whatever it was that moment is still fresh in my eyes. Now he doesn’t follow me but we walk along till that corner of our street towards our college and back to home. We are just friends and he has never attempted to do what I did with him. Anyone can call it love but for me it’s just a nice friendship with sweet memories of my sudden reaction. A word of advice! All boys are not same and yes not all girls will get same reward for their strange acts as I got!
